Is hypnotherapy training expensive?

It is easy to look at the price of any training course and compare it against the cost of other courses. However, if you are trying to decide whether hypnotherapy training is expensive, there are several things to consider. If you are looking to start a new career as a self-employed hypnotherapist, the most important point to consider is how well will it equip you for that future career?

Are you encouraged to practice  on people with real conditions?

To become confident with any new skill we must practice it repeatedly. Typically, newly qualified CPHT Stoke students will have at least 200 hypnotherapy hours under their belt. They will see their anxious volunteers become much more relaxed. Their clients may lose weight or stop smoking. This is because students use the tried and tested techniques seen demonstrated in class. Ideal for helping them to become competent and confident in their craft.

Are your tutors available between modules to help support you?

If you learn something new, it is likely that you will have questions. When practicing new skills between modules, CPHT Stoke students are given support if they need it. They may need guidance as they help their clients. Some may need help to answer questions in the portfolio. Regardless of their needs, the tutors of CPHT Stoke are available to answer their questions.

What are the qualifications of your tutors? Are they still in practice?

When a tutor has their own practice, they are more likely to be up to date with the latest information. They will be familiar with issues facing self-employed hypnotherapists. The tutor will understand how best to market their business. Students can learn a lot by listening to tutors talk confidentially about their own cases. There are 2 permanent senior lecturers at CPHT Leeds, they are Jenny Mellenchip & Caron Iley.

Jenny Mellenchip has her own busy hypnotherapy practice in Stafford and online. Jenny is a qualified to hypnotherapy supervisor.  She has held the AHD (Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma), the highest hypnotherapy qualification in the UK for over 2 years.

Caron Iley is an award-winning hypnotherapist with a very busy practice in Bolton and online. Caron is a qualified hypnotherapy supervisor. She is currently studying towards the AHD.

At CPHT Stoke we also believe it is important to bring in other lecturers occasionally. These lecturers tend to be experts in their field and help to provide variety for the students.

Will the course teach you the basics of running a business?

You can be great at what you do, but if nobody knows who you are, how will people find you? Marketing is an essential ingredient of the CPHT course. Course tutor, Jenny, is able to draw on her previous sales and marketing experience to give the students a good grounding in effective marketing. At CPHT Stoke, we also cover some basic accounting and data protection. These are both vital areas for students approaching self-employment for the first time.

Does the course allow you to pay as you learn?

When retraining for a new career money can be tight. We know it can be hard to come up with a lump sum to invest in your future career. This can be particularly difficult at the beginning of a training course. As you can’t yet see a return on your investment. At CPHT Stoke we understand this. We want to make it as easy as possible for you. After acceptance on the course, we ask for a deposit. This is followed by 9 further payments paid from modules 1 to 9. This spreads the cost of the course over 10 months. Thus making it more easily affordable for students.

One benefit of the CPHT Stoke course is that from module 7, you can start charging half price for your sessions with clients. This gives you the chance to earn back the cost of the course before you qualify in module 10. Students often do just that!

Are the qualifications nationally recognised and if so to what level?

It can be frustrating to attend a hypnotherapy training course and pay out good money, only to find that the course has been a waste of time. Make sure that the qualifications are nationally recognised. It is important that they are also accredited by the relevant awarding bodies.

There are two qualifications you can achieve on the CPHT Stoke course, the DfSFH and the HPD. The DfSFH (Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy) is a full diploma. It is accredited by the AfSFH (Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy). The HPD (Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma) is accredited by the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy). It is also verified by NCFE as a level 4 qualification on the UK’s national vocational framework. Both qualifications enable you to join the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council). The CNHC is the UK voluntary regulator for complementary health practitioners.

How soon after the course is completed will I be able to go into business?

Having attended all the modules and completed all the practical assessments, you will qualify in module 10 with the DfSFH. You can then begin your career as a self-employed hypnotherapist immediately. The HPD is achieved through submitting a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio consists of questions to answer, to showcase your knowledge. It also requires case studies to show your competence. Students of CPHT Stoke can submit any part of the online portfolio during the course. Case studies are done during the course. While many other schools expect them to be done after qualification.  This is because the course allows students to practice on people with conditions. After internal & external verification, the HPD, is awarded. The HPD is considered to be the gold standard qualification in the UK.

Is hypnotherapy training expensive? Compare Like for like.
Is hypnotherapy training expensive? Its important to compare like for like.

So, when considering retraining for any new career, make sure that you are comparing like with like. To decide whether a hypnotherapy training course is expensive, consider the cost against what you will receive. How likely it is that you will achieve your goal of becoming a successful, self-employed hypnotherapist?  Do you want to feel confident & competent as a hypnotherapist by the end of your course? If so, we think you will find that the course run by CPHT Stoke is great value!

Why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on the latest research

As Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, research is very important to us. We want to know that what we are doing with our clients really does work. So, if new evidence becomes available that suggests we need to change the way we work, then we will. Equally, there is good quality evidence to suggest that the Solution Focused approach is effective when used with hypnosis.

The scientific area of Neuroscience is steadily releasing the brain’s secrets. An organ of the body that was once considered to be of little importance. In the 4th century BC, Aristotle thought that the brain was a cooling mechanism for the blood. He also thought that the heart was the seat of intelligence. We have come a long way since then!

As Solution Focused Hypnotherapists (SFH) we base what we do on the latest brain research & neuroscience. Our aim is to help clients get back to being their true selves. At CPHT Stoke we make sure that our students understand the importance of research. How it helps us to become better therapists.  Everything within the course can be backed up by the latest research and neuroscientific endeavour.

National Research Programme

CPHT Stoke is part of a National research programme. This programme is called CORP or Clifton Practice Outcome Ratings Programme.

Hypnotherapy Research, CORP research, Compare results
CORP graph showing the difference between one practice and the average of all other therapists.

All our students are encouraged to take part in CORP. The majority of the first year membership cost is included in the course fees. It is the largest research programme of its type within the UK. CORP is designed to gather information on the effectiveness of SFH. However, it also reinforces the hypnotherapy sessions for the client in a positive & unobtrusive way. As a result, students and clients can observe their progress based on the client’s own figures. Obviously, this can be incredibly reassuring. Students can also see their improvement as they work with members of the public. There are many hypnotherapists now using CORP. It has amassed in excess of 25,000 hypnotherapy sessions to date. This gives students the wonderful ability to compare the progress of their clients against those of other hypnotherapists.

So train for a new career as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and be part of this ground-breaking research programme. Give Jenny a call today on 07748 511841. The next CPHT Stoke course starts in March 2021 at Trent House, Stoke.

Hypnotherapy Training and Sports Performance – Glenn Catley

Glenn Catley, Sports performance Hypnotherapy, Hypnotherapy Training, CPHT Stoke
CPHT Stoke, Improving Sports Performance

Hypnotherapy training with CPHT Stoke allows you to help people to achieve their goals. One area that Solution Focused Hypnotherapists can really help is helping to improve sports performance. Glenn Catley is visiting us at CPHT Stoke Hypnotherapy school in October. He will explain how hypnotherapy helped him to perform at his very best. Hypnotherapy resulted in him taking the title of  Super Middleweight World Champion Boxer

The greatest help we can give sports people in improving their performance,  is confidence in their own ability.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has its foundations rooted in what we know about the brain. In the way our brain works most efficiently. When a client understands the way their brain functions, they can make the progress they wish to. This applies not only in sports, but in life generally.

Often a person’s focus is on what could go wrong. As a result they may struggle to achieve their best time. Golfers may not be able to perfect their golf swing. Runners and swimmers might struggle to master their nerves before a big race.  This type of thinking is often the reason why they have difficulties.  It certainly doesn’t help them to improve. Sport is not all about physical ability, although it is that. It is also about mental ability. On the golf course you might hear: ‘I can hit the ball well in practice, but when it’s a competition the nerves take over’.

Hypnotherapy training shows how to help improve sports performance.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy provides  clients with an understanding of how they can achieve their goal.  During the session, they are helped to develop a vision of what they want to achieve.  They learn the importance of  including lots of detail. Once their vision is as detailed as it can be, they will know what they need to change to achieve their goal.  Jenny & Caron, the tutors of CPHT Stoke have practiced this techniques many times with amazing results. They are just waiting to show how you can help sports people improve their performance.

Hypnotherapy also uses aspects of mental rehearsal. This is a concept that has around for many years. The Russian gymnast team in the Sydney Olympics in 1956 used visualisation techniques. Eleven hypnotherapists accompanied the team to the games to help them.  As a result, the Russian team were placed at the top of the medal table by the end of the competition.

Many top sports people use visualisation techniques to optimise their performance. In the London 2012 Olympics, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Heptathlon Gold medallist said: “I use visualisation to think about the perfect technique. If I can get that perfect image in my head, then hopefully it’ll affect my physical performance.” English Rugby Union player, Jonny Wilkinson regularly performs visualisation sessions before games. “You are creating the sights, sounds, smells, the atmosphere, the sensation and the nerves. Right down to the early morning wake-up call and that feeling in your stomach. It helps your body to get used to performing under pressure.”

It’s a fascinating area.  So, if you think that this is something that you would enjoy helping people with, then contact us. You could be joining us on the next CPHT Stoke Hypnotherapy Training in March 2021 at Trent House, Business Lodge Stoke .

The importance of good marketing

Good marketing is one area of a new business that can be completely underestimated. You may have just qualified as a Hypnotherapist, but how do you let people know how good you are? Word of mouth will always be the best and cheapest form of advertising your business. However, word of mouth can take time to build. Graduates of CPHT start generating word of mouth enquiries right from day one of the training course. They do this by practicing on friends and family free of charge. As a result, many graduates have a solid client base by the time they qualify. More importantly they have the confidence to put their skills into practice.

Marketing, Business, Hypnotherapy Business, CPHT LeedsHowever, in the early days it is vital that other methods of promoting a new business are explored. Most of us understand the power of the internet these days. 96% of households in the UK now have internet access. According to a report in 2020 by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) 87% of people in the UK now do their product or service search online. So it makes sense for new hypnotherapists to have a strong internet presence. So what form should this presence take?

What is the best type of marketing for you?

Is it enough to just have a Facebook business page or do we need a website too? If so what type of website is best? Do we need to be able to change its content regularly?  Will it be okay to make the odd change now and again? Someone once said that that “having a website and not promoting it is like having a billboard in the desert – no-one can find it”. So how would you best promote your website/Facebook page? What about other social media such as Twitter, YouTube or Instagram, do they have a worth in promoting your business?
What about listings in directories or newspaper advertising? Do you need business cards and leaflets? Are these types of promotion old hat? Are they worth the money that they charge? Does all advertising cost money or is some of it free?

All of these questions will be answered on the CPHT Stoke training course starting in March 2021. We know that you can be a good Hypnotherapist without learning about marketing, but if you want to have a good business too, then marketing training is essential. The CPHT Stoke training course will give you the business basics including essential knowledge about marketing.

The course is run by experienced hypnotherapists who run busy practices.  Jenny & Caron know what marketing works & they are keen to pass this information on to you. This knowledge will help you to set up a successful hypnotherapy practice by suggesting the most effective methods for you.  CPHT Stoke Hypnotherapy Training course starts in March 2021 at Trent House, Business Lodge, Stoke.  Call Jenny on 07748 511841  today, if you’d like to know more. We are passionate about what we do and we would love to speak to you.

How do you choose a hypnotherapy training school?

If you’re looking for a Hypnotherapy Training School, first you need to decide what you want to achieve. Do you just want to learn to do self-hypnosis? What about the more flamboyant stage or street hypnosis, is that more your style? Perhaps you’d like to help others to get their lives back on track? Are you looking at this as a hobby, albeit a financially rewarding one? Do you want to change career completely or simply add to your existing skills?

Choose Hypnotherapy school, decide on hypnotherapy school, choose hypnotherapy training, decide on type of hypnotherapy training.
Which hypnotherapy school will you choose?

Once you’ve answered the questions above, you now have a better idea of what to look for in a training course. Self-hypnosis is covered at a certificate level and although it doesn’t allow you to practice as a hypnotherapist, this may be all that you need to fulfil your ambition. However, some people start out wanting to carry out self-hypnosis and then decide they want to know more. Could this be you? Then maybe the diploma course would be more appropriate? If you’re looking for stage or street hypnosis to entertain, then a diploma course is not necessary. However, confidence and a stage presence are. There are many such courses available and a quick Google search will point you in the right direction.

If you want to help others to get their lives on track by using hypnotherapy along with the latest brain based therapy, then the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Diploma is for you. Whether you wish to use it as a hobby, work part-time, supplement existing skills in your current career or train for a brand new career, then the CPHT Stoke course offers you everything you need.

How does change begin?

When faced with a problem, how do we begin to change? Attempting to solve any problem starts with understanding why it is happening. There is plenty of research to show that when clients understand that they can change, they do so more quickly, than those that don’t. During the initial consultation, Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, explain how the brain works.  During this simple and accurate explanation, we cover how and why we suffer from mental health issues. This forms the basis and understandinTime for change, Change your career, Change your life, New start, CPHT Stoke Hypnotherapy Trainingg that helps to bring about effective  change.

The mind is enormously complex, as we all know. A human brain has 100 billion neurons and 20,000 synaptic connections. These are bathed in multiple neurotransmitters. It’s difficult to imagine the sheer volume of interactions that go on. In fact one small factor  could contribute to a mental health problem.  Understandably, it may be hard to find.. However, as Hypnotherapists, we can tip the system towards the positive. A small seemingly inconsequential action can lead to a successful improvement of the illness. It can all start with a small change in behaviour. It could start with a depressed person deciding to go for a bike ride. After a while he begins going regularly and his appetite increases. As a result his sleeping improves and he feels stronger, mentally and physically.

We see a steadily increasing improvement in our clients.  People return to work feeling better. They begin to interact socially again and become more active. Some even jump on planes that they have been avoiding for years. Most importantly people start to cope with all that they have to handle.

Hypnotherapy makes a difference, we make a difference.

Hypnosis. Want to know the truth?

What is the truth about hypnosis? Often it’s easier to explain what hypnosis is not, rather than what it is. This is because many of us have a distorted view of hypnosis due to an abundance of books, films and stage shows. These media distort our perceptions of hypnosis for the sake of entertainment. After all the media tends to dramatise everything in order to encourage people to watch their films, see their shows or read their books.

I had no idea what to expect the first time I was hypnotised. However, I was quickly reassured that I would remain in complete control at all times. I would not end up barking like a dog each time EastEnders came on TV. In fact, I would only take on board the information that I found relevant to my situation. This was a relief to me as like most people I’m someone who likes to feel in control. There was also a distinct lack of swinging watches!

Hypnosis. What to know the truth? Hypnotherapy training, CPHT Stoke
Practicing hypnotherapy in month 1

Learning the truth about hypnosis with CPHT Stoke

Our student hypnotherapists are encouraged to practice on each other straight away. In fact during their very first hypnotherapy training weekend. After the first weekend we encourage them to practice on willing friends and family. This gives them confidence in their ability to hypnotise others very quickly. When they’re encouraged to use their skills free of charge on the general public just a couple of months later, most students are raring to go! In truth, most students agree, that their family and friends were much harder to deal with than the general public. By the end of the course they’re feeling confident in their abilities. They will often have dealt successfully with quite a few conditions. This is even before they start to charge for their services. It is this element of the course that best prepares students for setting up in business.

As soon as the students graduate they become supervised. This helps them to handle any scenario they come across. As they are trained by qualified supervisors, there’s a wonderful continuity . Everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. We’ve been where you are at every stage of the process so we know how you feel.
So now you know the truth about hypnosis. If this course, run by CPHT Stoke, sounds like the one for you, just give Jenny a call 0n 07748 511841. She would love to hear from you. You might need to leave a message as she and Caron both run busy hypnotherapy practices. However,  she will always get back to you. She can’t wait to answer your questions!

Training as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist

Practicing Hypnotherapy, Training as a hypnotherapist
CPHT Stoke students practice on people with real conditions

When I decided to train as a hypnotherapist, I was amazed at the variety of schools that were available.  The choice was overwhelming. How did I know which school would equip me best for a career as a hypnotherapist? I decide to write down all the things I wanted from my ideal school.

I wanted the best quality training. It needed to be fully accredited and be nationally recognised.  I hoped that I could find a course that focused on finding solutions to people’s issues as I didn’t want to be counselling people. Importantly, I wanted to feel confident that at the end of the training, I could be successful, both clinically and financially. It needed to run at weekends as I was working full time. I also hoped that I’d be able to pay for the course monthly.

After the first weekend I knew I had made the right decision, I couldn’t wait for the next weekend. The students came from a wide range of different backgrounds. The ages of the students varied too. The goals for my fellow students varied with some hoping to practice part time and others full time.  I love that I am still in touch with many of my fellow students.  As the weeks passed I felt fully supported not only by the lecturer but by other students in the group. We were encouraged from the very beginning to begin practicing on our family and friends. I never realised I had so many friends in need of relaxation!

Training to be a hypnotherapist with CPHT Stoke builds confidence.

This practical foundation was crucial in building my confidence.  The recommendation is to see 5 people a week, which I did. The results that I saw with my ‘clients’ were astounding. Friends sleeping better, family members feeling calmer and less stressed. My weight loss sessions with a group of lovely ladies often got lively at times. We all had a lot of fun and the ladies lost weight too. The change was not only apparent in the people I saw, I noticed a change in myself too. As a result my confidence and competence grew.

The evidence based knowledge on the course was also key for me.  I needed to understand the science behind what we did. It was important to me that I was doing what worked with my clients. I was reassured to find that the information we give to our clients is current, accurate and based on a proven methodology.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works, I see it every day.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has made a difference to the many hundreds of people I have seen . It has changed my life too. I have a successful business, I can organise my work time to suit my life. As a result, my passion for hypnotherapy has continued to grow.

If you would like to find out more call Jenny on 07748 511841. She would be delighted to hear from you. The next training course  starts in March 2021 at the Trent House, Business Lodge, Stoke.

A change of career to change your life!

When I started to consider a change of career as a hypnotherapist, I had no idea where to start.  There seemed to be as many different approaches as training schools. They also all seemed to offer different qualifications. Some were accredited with this body and some with that. Understandably,  I became quite confused. A few offered very short courses while others offered more in depth training. A variety of courses were online, with some local while others only operated from London.

Finally some clarity

In the end I decided that I wanted a course that would fit my philosophy on life. One that was logical and positive while being accredited. I used to be a listener for the Samaritans. So I knew that taking people back into their negative emotions, only made them feel worse. For this reason, I ruled out the idea of a combined counselling and hypnotherapy approach. I then stumbled across the CPHT website. I soon realised that everything they did, had a solid foundation in Neuroscience. It was a positive, Solution Focused approach that closely fitted my own philosophy. It used the best of NLP and as a trainer of NLP I felt reassured by that.

I then looked for a CPHT school close to home. I quickly realised that there was one almost on my doorstep in Manchester. The weekend dates suited my work schedule and I was able to pay for the course monthly. I contacted the school and was interviewed shortly afterwards. In the interview I was asked whether I wanted to build a career as a hypnotherapist and I said yes. The interviewer reassured me that if so, this was the course for me. Suddenly I started to wonder if I really wanted a change of career. I had a very well paid job as a senior manager . Although I was sick of the extensive travelling, did I really want to give up my job? Would I lose my financial security?

The CPHT Hypnotherapy Training course

Despite these initial concerns, I attended the course. I loved every weekend which amounted to 120 hours of tutor led instruction. First we watched the tutor demonstrate the methods. Then we practiced on colleagues, then friends and family and then real clients. This experience really gave me the confidence in my ability as a hypnotherapist. I acquired around 200 hypnotherapy hours before I’d even qualified! In addition, I was assessed practically by my trainer. I completed a written portfolio that contained a number of case studies from clients seen while training. Finally, on completion of the course I gained two Diplomas. The first one in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy & psychotherapy from CPHT (the DSFH). The second, the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma from the NCH. This diploma has been assessed by NCFE as a level 4 qualification.

Change your Career, Choose Hypnotherapy school, decide on hypnotherapy school, choose hypnotherapy training, decide on type of hypnotherapy training.
Looking to change your career? Which hypnotherapy school will you choose?

Most importantly, as by the end of the course I was already seeing paying clients. Within 12 months of completing my hypnotherapy training, I became a full time hypnotherapist. Clients now visit me at my Stafford clinic & also online.  Currently I see around 25 ‘live clients’ on a regular basis. I love being a self-employed hypnotherapist; it has really changed my life.

The amount of travel I do has reduced markedly. My family love seeing me more often as  I have more freedom and flexibility in my life. The best thing about it all, is that I am helping others to achieve their goals. I love seeing the change in people as they start to get their life back on track.
If you’re looking for a new career that will change your life, I believe that you’ve just found it!
