Is hypnotherapy training expensive?

It is easy to look at the price of any training course and compare it against the cost of other courses. However, if you are trying to decide whether hypnotherapy training is expensive, there are several things to consider. If you are looking to start a new career as a self-employed hypnotherapist, the most important point to consider is how well will it equip you for that future career?

Are you encouraged to practice throughout the training course on people with real conditions?

To become confident with any new skill we must practice it repeatedly. Typically, CPHT Leeds students will have at least 200 hypnotherapy hours under their belt by the end of the course. They will see their anxious volunteers become much more relaxed. Their clients may lose weight or stop smoking, as students use the tried and tested techniques seen demonstrated in class. This process is ideal for helping them to become competent and confident in their craft.

Are your tutors available between modules to help support you?

If you learn something new, it is likely that you will have questions. When practicing new skills between modules, CPHT Leeds students are given support if they need it. They may need guidance as they help their clients or help to answer questions in the portfolio. Regardless of their needs, the tutors of CPHT Leeds are available to answer their questions.

What are the qualifications of your tutor/s and are they still in practice?

When a tutor has their own practice, they are more likely to be up to date with the latest information. They will be familiar with issues facing self-employed hypnotherapists. The tutor will understand how best to market their business. Students can learn a lot listening to tutors talk about their own cases, while maintaining confidentiality. There are 2 permanent senior lecturers at CPHT Leeds, they are Jenny Mellenchip & Caron Iley.

Jenny Mellenchip has her own busy hypnotherapy practice in Stafford and online. Jenny is qualified to supervise hypnotherapists. She has held the AHD (Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma), the highest hypnotherapy qualification in the UK for over 2 years.

Caron Iley is an award-winning hypnotherapist with a very busy practice in Bolton and online. She is currently studying towards the AHD.

At CPHT Leeds we also believe it is important to bring in other lecturers occasionally. These lecturers tend to be experts in their field and help to provide variety for the students.

Will the course teach you the basics of running a business?

You can be great at what you do but if nobody knows who you are, how will people know to look for you? Marketing is an essential ingredient of the CPHT course. Course tutor, Jenny, is able to draw on her previous sales and marketing experience to give the students a good grounding in effective marketing. At CPHT Leeds, we also cover some basic accounting and data protection. These are both vital areas for students approaching self-employment for the first time.

Does the course allow you to pay as you learn?

When retraining for a new career money can be tight. We know it can be hard to come up with a lump sum to invest in your future career. This can be particularly difficult at the beginning of a training course before you are able to see any return on your investment. At CPHT Leeds we understand this and want to make it as easy as possible for you. After acceptance on the course, we ask for a deposit followed by 9 further payments paid from module 1 to module 9. This spreads the cost of the course over 10 months, making it more easily affordable for students. One benefit of the CPHT Leeds course is that from module 7, you can start charging half price for your sessions with clients. This gives you the chance to earn back the cost of the course before you qualify in module 10. Students often do just that!

Are the qualifications nationally recognised and if so to what level?

It can be frustrating to attend a hypnotherapy training course and pay out good money, only to find that the course has been an expensive waste of time. Make sure that the qualifications are nationally recognised and are accredited by the relevant awarding bodies. There are two qualifications you can achieve on the CPHT Leeds course, the DfSFH and the HPD. The DfSFH (Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy) is a full diploma and accredited by the AfSFH (Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy). The HPD (Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma) is accredited by the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy). It is also verified by NCFE as a level 4 qualification on the UK’s national vocational framework. Both qualifications enable you to join the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) the UK voluntary regulator for complementary health practitioners.

How soon after the course is completed will I be able to go into business?

If you have attended all the modules and completed all the practical assessments, you will qualify in module 10 with the DfSFH. This means that you can begin your career as a self-employed hypnotherapist straight away. The HPD is achieved through submitting a portfolio of evidence. The portfolio consists of questions to answer, to showcase your knowledge and case studies to show your competence. Students of CPHT Leeds can hand in their portfolio on the last day or the course. This is because the course allows them to practice on people with conditions. After internal and external verification, the HPD, which is considered to be the gold standard qualification in the UK, is awarded.

Is hypnotherapy training expensive? Its important to compare like for like.

So, when considering retraining for any new career, make sure that you are comparing like with like. To decide whether a hypnotherapy training course is expensive, consider the cost against what you will receive. How likely it is that you will achieve your goal of becoming a successful, self-employed hypnotherapist? Do you want to feel confident & competent as a hypnotherapist by the end of your course? If so, we think you will find that the course run by CPHT Leeds is great value!

The impact of social isolation on Hypnotherapy Training by CPHT Leeds

If you are considering a hypnotherapy training course, you may be worried about the Covid-19 situation. You may be concerned that if it is held online, it may not be as effective as a face to face course. We decided to answer seven of the most popular questions here, to reassure your concerns.

Will the next training course be an online course in part or wholly?

When we get the go-ahead from the Government, our course will return to being run as a face-to-face course as originally planned. This will be held in the Blue Room at Leeds Trinity University in Horsforth. However, at the moment we are not completely sure when that will be, so we are preparing for both eventualities. As the next course doesn’t start until September 2020. We are hopeful that we will be seeing students in person for the majority of the course, if not all of it.

Surely an online course won’t be as good as a face-to face course?

#Covid-19 #VideoConferencing #OnlineHypnotherapyTraining#CPHTLeedsOnline
Live Video Conferencing

It’s important to make the distinction between an online course and a live video conference. When most people talk about an online course, they usually refer to having access to a number of videos that can be viewed online, at a time to suit them. There would normally be some written material to go with the videos and very little practical work. CPHT Leeds run interactive courses online using the live video conferencing platform Zoom. We have two tutors available to answer your questions at all times during the weekend. We do everything that we would normally do in our face-to-face training sessions. This includes demonstrating the skills you will need and watching you practice those skills with fellow students. The weekend modules are very practical, full of variety, fun and entertaining.

How can the students practice the skills on each other in a video conference?

Zoom offers a break-out room facility, it enables us to pair students together to practice their skills. Caron and Jenny, the tutors, are able to pop into each room to see how you’re getting on and to offer  advice.

Will the qualification be considered as good as it would have been had I attended the course in person?

The short answer is yes. At the start of social isolation, CPHT got in touch with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) who got together with the Complementary & National Healthcare Council (CNHC). The NCH and CNHC are actively involved in shaping the standards and future of hypnotherapy in the UK. Both organisations have granted dispensation to all those courses being run during the Covid-19 outbreak to be held online. They have assured us that graduates during this time will obtain the same level of accreditation as those who have attended face-to-face training sessions previously.

#Covid-19 #CPHTLeedsOnline #VideoConferencing #LiveOnlineHypnotherapyTraining
Live Interactive Online Hypnotherapy Training

You say that there will be a lot of variety, but we’ll be staring at a screen for two full days at a time, that can’t be fun surely?

Our face-to-face sessions use a variety of teaching styles to hold the attention of the students, as any good quality course would do. The same practice applies to our online sessions. We incorporate a mix of video, power point, lecturer-led and small group activities for the students.  This is supplemented by practical work between modules, just as it would be were we to meet in person. Breaks are held at regular intervals, to allow students to get up and move around.

Will the course be any cheaper if it is held online?

The price of the course is to enable you to take advantage of obtaining the two qualifications on offer with CPHT Leeds. The DSFH (Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy) and the HPD (Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma). We know that some of our costs will reduce if a course is held  online, while other costs will inevitably increase. You, however, will probably find it cheaper & less time-consuming to attend training via a live video conference. This is due to less traveling with potentially fewer accommodation costs.

#Covid-19 #GlennCatleyOnline #HypnotherapyTrainingOnline #LiveInteractiveOnline HypntoherapyTraining
Former Super Middleweight World Boxing Champion, Glenn Catley online with students

Have you held a course online like this before?

Yes, the current training course (LS4) started out with students attending a local venue, as had always been the case before the Covid-19 situation. After module 7 we had to move to live video conference sessions using Zoom. After some initial trepidation on hearing that we would need to move to online training, the students fully embraced the experience. They were heard to state after the module that it had been just as good as if they attended the module in person.

Why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on the latest research

As Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, research is very important to us. We want to know that what we are doing with our clients really does work. So, if new evidence becomes available that suggests we need to change the way we work, then we will. Equally, there is an increasing amount of good quality evidence now that suggests that the Solution Focused approach is effective along with the benefits of hypnosis.

The scientific area of Neuroscience is steadily releasing the brain’s secrets, an organ of the body that was once considered to be of little importance. In the 4th century BC, Aristotle thought that the brain was a cooling mechanism for the blood and that the heart was the seat of intelligence. We have come a long way since then!

As Solution Focused Hypnotherapists we base what we do on the latest brain research and neuroscience to help clients get back to being their true selves. At CPHT Leeds we make sure that our students understand the importance of research and how it helps us to become better therapists.  Everything within the course can be backed up by the latest research and neuroscientific endeavour.

CPHT Leeds is part of a National research programme called Clifton Practice Outcome Ratings Programme or CORP.

Hypnotherapy Research, CORP research, Compare results
CORP graph showing the difference between one practice and the average of all other therapists.

All our students are encouraged to take part in CORP and the cost of the first year membership is included in the course fees. It is the largest research programme of its type within the UK. It is designed to gather information of the effectiveness of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. However, it also reinforces the hypnotherapy sessions for the client in a positive and unobtrusive way. Students and clients can observe their progress based on the client’s own figures which can be incredibly reassuring. Students can also see how they improve in effectiveness as they work with members of the public. There are many hypnotherapists now using CORP and it has amassed in excess of 20,000 hypnotherapy sessions already. This gives students the wonderful ability to compare the progress of their clients against the average performance of other therapists using CORP.

If you would like to train for a new career as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and be part of this ground-breaking research programme, give Jenny a call today on 07748 511841. The next CPHT Leeds course starts in September 2020 at Leeds Trinity University.

How CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training alleviates phobias

CPHT Hypnotherapy Training

Students at CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training are finding that they are not short of clients to practice on to help with fear of flying at this time of year.

Fear of flying, or “Aerophobia” to give it its correct title, is actually on the increase even though statistics tell us that flying is the safest mode of travel.  In fact, it seems that as many as half of us have some kind of fear around flying and air travel, although not all of these would be classed as a full-blown phobia.

Hypnotherapy Training and Sports Performance – Glenn Catley

Glenn Catley, Sports performance Hypnotherapy,Hypnotherapy Training, CPHT Leeds
Sports Hypnotherapy Training

The opportunity for all Solution Focused Hypnotherapists in working with sports people is tremendous. Glenn Catley is visiting us at Leeds CPHT Hypnotherapy training this month to explain how hypnotherapy helped him to perform at his very best on the night, taking the title of World Champion Boxer in the Super Middleweight division.

Perhaps the greatest help we can give sports people in improving their performance, like Glenn, is confidence in their own innate ability.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has its foundations rooted in what we know about the brain and how our brain works most efficiently. The more a person understands about the real way their brain functions, then the greater the progress can be made, not only in sports but in life generally.

Often when a person is struggling to achieve their best time, attempting to perfect their golf swing or mastering their nerves before a big race, their focus is on what could go wrong. This type of thinking is the precise reason why they have difficulties, it doesn’t help them improve. Sport is not all about physical ability, although it is that. It is also about mental ability. You often hear on the golf course: ‘I can hit the ball well in practice, but when it’s a competition the nerves take over’.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy provides our clients with an understanding, a perspective and a vision and how they can make it possible. When people direct their thoughts towards what they would specifically like to be doing differently, then they will get a specific result.  You know it makes sense! At CPHT Leeds we are very successful at producing clinical hypnotherapists that understand how people can enhance their performance.

Hypnotherapy also uses aspects of mental rehearsal, a concept that has around for many years. The Russian gymnast team in the Sydney Olympics in 1956 used visualisation techniques. Eleven hypnotherapists accompanied the team and it proved an overwhelming success, with the Russian team being placed at the top of the medal table.

Many top sports people use visualisation techniques to optimise their performance. In the London 2012 Olympics, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Heptathlon Gold medallist revealed: “I use visualisation to think about the perfect technique. If I can get that perfect image in my head, then hopefully it’ll affect my physical performance.” English Rugby Union player, Jonny Wilkinson regularly performs visualisation sessions before games. “You are creating the sights, sounds, smells, the atmosphere, the sensation and the nerves, right down to the early morning wake-up call and that feeling in your stomach. It helps your body to get used to performing under pressure.”

It’s a fascinating area and if you think that this is something that you would enjoy helping people with, then contact us. You could be joining us on the next CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training in September 2020 at Leeds Trinity University.

Life as a CPHT Leeds hypnotherapy trainer

Well we’re now over halfway through our first Solution Focused Hypnotherapy training course in Leeds. We can’t believe how quickly the course is going. Prior to the start of the course, we spent months assisting at CPHT Bristol. This allowed us to make sure that structurally, our course would be the same as all the other CPHT courses in the UK. It was an honour working with the founder of the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy approach that we use today, David Newton. This structure  gives us our students the reassurance that if they cannot attend one module, they can attend one of our sister schools to catch up. It also ensures that CPHT Leeds benefits from the externally accredited, level 4 award from NCFE.
Every potential student is interviewed by us to ensure a good fit with the Solution Focused approach. Some of these interviews are held at Leeds Trinity university, the venue for the course. However, when attendance in person is not practical, interviews can be carried out via Skype. During the interviews, potential students are made aware of the need to practice their skills between modules. We make it clear that we want students to be ‘fit-for-purpose’ and to do that practice is a must!

Prior to every module, we spend time rehearsing the content for the weekend. We get all the paperwork together, discuss case studies we will use and tie down the timings. The work is shared out equally between us and it’s great that we can rely on each other. The modules build the students’ knowledge carefully. It’s important to us that the foundation knowledge is in place before we add additional skills. We carry out demonstrations for the students before we ask them to copy what we’ve done with each other. Students are then encouraged  to practice on the general public, free of charge. This gives them the skills they need to grow in confidence and skill.

A typical CPHT Leeds Training weekend

I drive up to Leeds on the Friday afternoon before each CPHT Leeds course weekend. The M6/M62 traffic can sometimes be quite a challenge! Along with Caron, the other senior lecturer, we set up the equipment at Leeds Trinity University before finally checking into our hotel. Then we look forward to a nice meal before having an early night and a good night’s sleep. On the Saturday morning, we arrive nice and early to check for any last-minute glitches. Our students generally start to arrive from 9:15am ready to start at 10am. After an amusing, informative and occasionally tiring day, we occasionally hold interviews for the next training course. After this we make our way back to the hotel and indulge our love of good food again, before another early night.

Practical Assessments, Initial consultation, Health assessment
Initial Consultation practical assessment

Sundays tend to be a little easier, with more practical exercises. As the course progresses, we film students as they carry out their practical assessments. At 5pm on the Sunday, we pack up our equipment and make our way home. We are always aware that the following day our own very successful hypnotherapy practices will need to be attended to. However, rehearsing material for the next module is always a priority.

Training students in hypnotherapy for CPHT Leeds makes for a busy life, but we both enjoy it. The lovely, positive feedback from our students makes it all worthwhile. If you would like to find out more about training to be a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, contact us on 07748 511841 (Jenny). Maybe you’ll soon be looking forward to a new career as a hypnotherapist?

Hypnotherapy Training – Helping people to improve their game

Rio Brazil - Hypnotherapy TrainingHelping people to improve their game

With the country still buzzing from watching the incredible Olympic Games, many people will be stimulated in improving their own performance. Once you have trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, you can help people gain their psychological edge when competing.

Hypnotherapy Training gives you the tools to work with clients who want to improve their confidence and performance – both with sports people and within a work environment.

“We all possess what we metaphorically term as a ‘stress bucket’ and when our bucket fills up then our ability to concentrate on our game can suffer”, says Jenny Mellenchip, Senior Lecturer at CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training.

“Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help a customer empty their ‘stress bucket’ through harnessing the power of positive thinking and using trance – which is a safe and natural process.”

“Reducing that stress bucket load for any sports’ person is vital because it’ll help their mind to become focused on what they want to achieve and help them to think like a winner!

“It can make all the difference on the field because it means their mindset is more focused in a ‘can do’ approach, which, in turn, should make them more successful,” says Cathy, Senior Lecturer at CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training.

Hypnotherapy isn’t just useful for runners or team players, it can also be exceptionally useful in helping people in their work environment. They can improve their game and allow themselves to be more relaxed when juggling deadlines and work demands.

So, if you are looking for Hypnotherapy Training and would like to help people to improve their game, then contact Jenny at CPHT Leeds.

The importance of marketing

Good marketing is one area of a new business that can be completely underestimated. You may have just qualified as a Hypnotherapist, but how do you let people know how good you are? Word of mouth is still the best and cheapest form of advertising your business but this can take time to build. Graduates of CPHT start generating word of mouth enquiries right from day one of the training course by practicing on friends and family free of charge. As a result, many graduates have a solid client base by the time they qualify and the confidence to put their skills into practice.

Marketing, Business, Hypnotherapy Business, CPHT LeedsHowever, in the early days it is vital that other methods of promoting a new business are explored. Many of us will understand the power of the internet these days with 78% people going online every day. According to a report in 2015 by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) 69% of people in the UK do their product or service search online. So it makes sense for new hypnotherapists to have a strong internet presence. So what form should this presence take?
Is it enough to just have a Facebook business page or do we need a website too? If so what type of website is best? Do we need to be able to change its content regularly or will it be okay to make the odd change now and again? Someone once said that that “having a website and not promoting it is like having a billboard in the desert – no-one can find it”. So how would you best promote your website/Facebook page? What about other social media such as Twitter, YouTube or Instagram, do they have a worth in promoting your business?
What about listings in directories or newspaper advertising? Do you need business cards and leaflets? Are these types of promotion old hat? Are they worth the money that they charge? Does all advertising cost money or is some of it free?

All of these questions will be answered on the CPHT Leeds training course starting this September. We know that you can be a good Hypnotherapist without learning about marketing. However, if you want to have a good business too, then this training course will give you the business basics including essential knowledge about marketing.
The course is run by experienced hypnotherapists who run busy practices. We know what marketing works. This knowledge will help you to set up a successful hypnotherapy practice by suggesting the most effective methods for you. If you’d like to find out more about CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training course starting in September 2020 at Trinity Leeds University, call Jenny on 07748 511841  today. We are passionate about what we do and we would love to speak to you.

A simple explanation about anxiety and how it can creep up on us

CPHT Leeds – Stress and AnxietyAs a Clinical Hypnotherapist we often meet clients who are suffering from anxiety. A natural response that everyone will feel from time to time, after all no one can avoid routine life situations. We may feel anxious when we need to attend a job interview or swerve for a car that is heading in our direction and for some people it may be the worry that people think badly of them.

So what is anxiety?

It is response that people have to perceived threats or danger. Anxiety keeps us vigilant, highly aware of ourselves and our surroundings and to the potential threat to our own security.

Not everyone reacts to an experience in the same way and not everyone experiences anxiety at the same level. Anxious people may remind themselves of the particular scary or upsetting situation by imagining the things happening and the anxiety can run away with them.

Once anxiety starts we may experience the physical nature of it. Our heart rate increases, stomach begins to churn and our breathing becomes faster. These feelings can be uncomfortable and people can end up feeling anxious about being anxious.

In the relaxed clinical setting of the hypnotherapy room during the initial consultation, we explore the changes in the brain when this happens and it helps the person understand more fully the nature of the biological response.

Danger is in the eye of the beholder even though the person may be fully aware of the irrationality of it. Logic in this situation can therefore only achieve so much.

Through trance the Hypnotherapist can provide space for internal focus when the persons mind can redefine the perceived threats and facilitate a process of de-cluttering, allowing rational thought to become more believable.

It is a kind therapy, a comfortable and peaceful experience. Many people have described it as feeling of having a good couple of hours sleep.

How often do we reassess a situation after sleeping well?

It’s a fascinating and developing field of knowledge and research. If you find this interesting and would like to be one of the first Solution Focused Hypnotherapist graduating with the HPD in Leeds then call the course tutor Jenny on 07748 511841 .

How do you choose a hypnotherapy training school?

If you’re looking for a Hypnotherapy Training School, first you need to decide what you want to achieve. Do you just want to learn to do self-hypnosis? What about the more flamboyant stage or street hypnosis, is that more your style? Perhaps you’d like to help others to get their lives back on track? Are you looking at this as a hobby, albeit a financially rewarding one? Do you want to change career completely or simply add to your existing skills?Choose Hypnotherapy school, decide on hypnotherapy school, choose hypnotherapy training, decide on type of hypnotherapy training.
Once you’ve answered the questions above you now have a better idea of what to look for in a training course. Self-hypnosis is covered at a certificate level and although it doesn’t allow you to practice as a hypnotherapist, this may be all that you need to fulfil your ambition. However, some people start out wanting to carry out self-hypnosis and then decide they want to know more. If this could be you then maybe the diploma course would be more appropriate? If you’re looking for stage or street hypnosis to entertain, then a diploma course is not necessary. However, confidence and a stage presence are. There are many such courses available and a quick Google search will point you in the right direction.
If you want to help others to get their lives on track by using hypnotherapy along with the latest brain based therapy, then the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Diploma is for you. Whether you wish to use it as a hobby, work part-time, supplement existing skills in your current career or train for a brand new career, then the CPHT Leeds course offers you everything you need.

Hypnotherapy training school, Hypnotherapy school, hypnotherapy class,CPHT Leeds hypnotherapy training is carried out by experienced hypnotherapists to the same high standards expected of all Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training schools. Accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), General Hypnotherapy Council (GHR), Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists (AfSFH) and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council(CNHC). The Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD) is assessed at level 4 NVQ by NCFE.
The CPHT Leeds course is fun as we believe that you learn better when you enjoy what you’re doing. Despite this we cover some very detailed material. You will learn how the brain works and how to explain this to others in easy to understand language. You will hear about all the research that backs up everything we do in the therapy room. We will give you full support & guidance while you’re preparing your portfolio. We encourage you to practice on as many people as you can during the course. We will guide you during the setup of your business, if that’s what you want to do with your qualification. Then once you’re qualified, we have the experience, skills and qualifications to be your supervisors, so that the transition from student to practicing hypnotherapist is as smooth as it can be.
If CPHT Leeds sounds like the Hypnotherapy Training School for you, then fill in an application form today. The next CPHT Leeds course starts in September.
